Mr.Bruce Cranford gave a talk on “Energy Production and Use in the United States and How it Affects You” on May 15th, 2019. The talk was presented at EJ’s provision in Laurel, MD.

Speaker Biography:

Bruce Cranford has served as VP for MDSPE and is a Past President of our Potomac Chapter. He retired from the Department of Energy as a Senior Engineer in 1999 after 21 years. Before joining DOE, he was a Program manager for the Army Medical Bioengineering Laboratory, where he developed medical equipment for the field medical services known as MASH. He also developed the first automated mobile patient Chemical/Nuclear/Biological decontaminating unit. Prior to that, Bruce worked as an Air Launch Missiles Program manager for the Naval Ordnance Station. Bruce has been a speaker on Energy for the Lifelong Learning Institute at Montgomery College and is a consultant in the fields of space, energetic materials and energy. He is an Associate Fellow with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, serving on their Technical Committee for Energetic Materials and Components, and is also a Fellow with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Currently, Bruce serves as a Docent at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center and National Mall. He has published over 70 articles and 4 books on space, energy, and energetic materials and has taught model rocketry and special after school programs at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Bruce is a licensed PE and earned his BS in Aerospace Engineering at CU in 1967 and his MS in Biomedical Engineering at GW in 1976.
